A Few of My Favorite Things

Red Flowers - While these flowers have more petals, the red and black coloration of these daisies liken to that of my favorite flower, the poppy. Aside from their visual appeal I enjoy poppies for their symbolism for sleep and death, the former due to my affinity of dreams and the latter due to my interest in the macabre.

Comb - While he probably wouldn't admit it, my dad preens his hair very often. I always see him smoothing it out with his hand, and he constantly has these combs within his back pocket in case he needs to fix it up quickly. It's a simple item, but never fails to remind me of my father.

Cocoa - I have been since I was young and still continued to be addicted to chocolate. While it's not as intense as it was when i was a child, I still get cravings now and then for Hershey's or Dove. On long or cold nights, it feels nice to relax with a warm cup of hot chocolate now and then.

Paprika - This is one of my favorite spices at my house, plus it's a wonderful addition on top of devilled eggs. The cannister is cute in design and I've always adored it. Paprika is also the name of one of my favorite movies, with fantastic animation and cinematics throughout the entire film. The plot of the movie revolves around dreams and their surrealism, which is something I always find fascinating and love to hear about.

Watercolors - This box of watercolors was given to me by my grandma when I visited her as a small child. I remember sitting at her kitchen table with her and her teaching me how to mix and use the paint. She has always inspired and encouraged me to pursue art, especially in drawing and painting.

Sketchbook - More than anything this book is important to me, and I never leave the house without one. It is a symbol of the things I want to do most in life, and contains every idea and story I have trouble bringing into words.
